This flat and scenic 200K is almost entirely off-street, using paved bike and pedestrian paths. Please remember to ride accordingly. These paths are low-stress and low-speed, so enjoy the scenery and visiting with your fellow riders. Approximately half of the ride is along the ocean with great views. Be sure to keep an eye out for migrating Gray whales. The rest of the ride is on river trails that have the opportunity of wildlife sightings for the observant randonneur. Coyotes and bald eagles have been spotted on this route.
Parking: Parking is available in the City Lot at the pier, $1.90 per hour - $29.00 daily rate. Free on-street parking is available on Balboa Blvd and the residential streets on either side of it once you get a few blocks away from the pier (North/West of Cypress, or South/East of B Street). See parking map.
This is a self- supported ride. Riders are responsible for obtaining their own food and water out on the course. There is no SAG vehicle.
