This is a point-to-point ride from Union Station Los Angeles to Santa Fe Depot in San Diego.  For 2026 we will debut this route on the summer solstice to take advantage of the abundant daylight.  The early start means that most riders will be to finish in time to take the last Pacific Surfliner back to LA on Saturday night.

This is a minimally supported ride.  Riders are responsible for obtaining their own food and water out on the course.  There is no SAG vehicle.

Full lights and reflective gear are required for all riders.  Please see Article 10 of the RUSA rules for riders

Transportation logistics:  The last Amtrak train leaving San Diego is at 9:01 pm.  With a 5:00 am start, that gives you 16 hours to complete the ride and still make the train.  If you are not confident that you can finish in under 16 hours, or you just don't want to deal with the time pressure, you can always book a room in San Diego (there are quite a few hostels near the station) and take the train back the next morning.  Bikes are free on Amtrak, but you must make a bicycle reservation when you buy your ticket.
