March 8th is International Women's Day. To celebrate, RUSA encourages regions to schedule a brevet as part of the "Together We Ride" movement. PCH Randonneurs will proudly host a populaire on Saturday, March 11th to celebrate International Women's Day. Commemerative patches will be handed out (to the first 25 entrants). We hope to have as many women as possible at this ride. Mark your calendars and invite your friends. Men are more than welcome to ride, but you will be expected to frequently tell us women what badass cyclists we are!
To help encourage new women randonneurs, PCH Randonneurs will pay for the first year's RUSA membership of any new female riders who participate in this ride.
For this event we will use the San Gabriel River Populaire route. This is a super flat 67 mile ride along the Rio Hondo and San Gabriel River Trails. The ride begins in Arcadia and uses mostly bath trails to get to Seal Beach, where you can enjoy a nice coffee and pastry break. The route then retraces the same bike trails back to Arcadia. At the finish you can enjoy lunch at Goldstein's Bagel Bakery (where they make genuine boiled NY style bagels) or at the nearby In-N-Out.
Do not park in the Goldstein's lot- it is small and you will be towed. There is street parking available on La Porte and Flower streets near the start. The start is also very close to the Arcadia Gold Line (L line) station if you would prefer to take Metro.
